The Weekly Well List

What’s trending in wellness, beauty, and pop culture this week – with our take on it.

Welcome to The Weekly Well List, your go-to roundup for what’s buzzing across the wellness world, beauty space, and the ever-vibrant pop culture scene. Whether you’re easing into the week with a walk-and-matcha or winding down from a reformer class, this list is designed to spark curiosity, offer inspiration, and maybe even make you say “same” out loud.

Monday Musings: What’s Trending in Health, Wellness, Beauty & Pop Culture This Week (April 7, 2025)

Welcome to your Monday fix—where we delve into the latest buzz in wellness, beauty, and pop culture. Whether you're savouring a matcha latte or unwinding after a Pilates session, here’s your curated roundup of what’s hot (and our take on it).

Wellness Buzz: Is Your Vagus Nerve the New Wellness Superstar?

There's a new body part in the wellness spotlight: your vagus nerve. If you haven’t heard of it yet, get ready—this nerve is the hot topic in stress relief and nervous system support. From vagal toning exercises to wearable stimulators, stimulating this “chill out” nerve is being hailed as the next step beyond meditation.

My take: I love that we’re moving toward nervous system regulation instead of glamorizing burnout. As someone who’s taught hundreds of Pilates clients to breathe through the core, it’s exciting to see the connection between breathwork and vagus nerve stimulation finally going mainstream. Bonus points for the fact it’s totally free to start—no subscription needed.

❄️ Cold Plunges: Still Trending or Are We Just Masochists Now?

Let’s talk cold therapy. Yep, it's still trending. This week, the conversation shifted toward its benefits for anxiety management and mental clarity—with more wellness brands offering portable plunge pools and spa-like setups for your garden.

Honestly? I get the science. I see the glow on TikTok. But plunging into freezing water at 6am in April? Not for the faint-hearted. That said, if it works for you and helps you feel more grounded, power to you. I’ll cheer you on from my warm shower with my eucalyptus steam spray.

🧠 Brain Gains with Oxygen Therapy

Hyperbaric oxygen chambers are showing up in high-end wellness spaces with big claims: better focus, improved cognition, and even anti-aging benefits. Think spa meets sci-fi.

Would I try it? Probably. Anything that promises to reduce brain fog is tempting after a busy week of running events, content creation, and managing DMs. But I do think we need to balance these biohacking trends with good sleep, proper food, and real rest.

💄 Beauty Watch: Gen Z’s 'Tweakment' Era Is Here

In the beauty world, Gen Z is redefining what “natural” means with their love of tweakments—small, subtle cosmetic procedures that enhance features without looking “done.” We're talking baby Botox, lip flips, and skin boosters.

Hot take: While I’m all for people feeling confident in their skin, I also feel like we’re teetering on the edge of a new kind of pressure. If a "natural look" now requires professional intervention, where does that leave everyone else? It’s a reminder that real wellness should start with acceptance, not just aesthetics.

🧴 Skinimalism: Less Product, More Glow

Finally—a trend I fully support. Skinimalism is all about streamlining your skincare and letting your natural skin texture shine. Think fewer steps, smarter ingredients, and a “my skin but better” vibe.

As someone who sweats for a living, this is music to my ears. Nobody wants twelve layers of product sliding off halfway through class. Clean, breathable skin that’s still radiant? Sign me up.

🔴 Red Light Therapy: Your At-Home Spa Moment

Red light therapy is back in the limelight (literally). It’s being praised for collagen production, healing acne scars, and calming inflammation—all from the comfort of your home.

Do I love it? Yes—especially as I slip into bed and have 10 minutes of stillness, no socials, just me and the light. It’s giving “sleepy time meets spa girl,” and I’m here for it.

🎤 Pop Culture Picks: Jack Black's Triumphant Return to SNL & The Breakthrough Prize Red Carpet

Let’s round it out with a little glam.

🪑 Milan Design Week: Where Wellness Meets Design

Running all this week, Milan Design Week is showcasing how luxury brands are blurring the lines between fashion, technology, and well-being. Key themes? Sustainability, digital-physical experiences, and calming spaces.

What I love: The idea that our spaces are part of our wellness. A cozy, curated home? That’s therapy. Design and mood are connected, and I hope this trend brings more intention to how we live. You'll be getting a lot more design and home tips from me as I move into my new place in the next month!

👗 Plaid for Spring? Groundbreaking (Actually Though)

Surprise hit of the season: plaid. Not just for autumn anymore, designers are remixing the print with soft pastels and modern tailoring.

Honestly? I’m here for a plaid mini with ballet flats or a matching set for a walk-and-matcha. Cute but not trying too hard—yes please.

🌟 Breakthrough Prize Ceremony: Where Science Meets Stardom

Dubbed the "Oscars of Science," the Breakthrough Prize Ceremony on April 5, 2025, saw a convergence of celebrities and scientific luminaries. Gwyneth Paltrow, Paris Hilton, and Katy Perry graced the red carpet, celebrating achievements that push the boundaries of human knowledge.

Why it matters: In a world obsessed with fleeting trends, it's heartening to see pop culture icons championing intellectual accomplishments. It bridges the gap between entertainment and education, inspiring a new generation to value both.

🌿 Final Thoughts

This week’s trends are a blend of inner well-being, authentic beauty, and a nod to the classics—reflecting our collective desire for balance and depth in an often superficial world.
