January often gets a bad reputation—cold, dark, and seemingly never-ending. But instead of dreading it, I see it as a time to slow down, reset, and find joy in the little things. After the chaos of December, there’s something refreshing about embracing cosy nights, nourishing routines, and moments of stillness.
Here’s how I’ve been keeping my spirits high this month, plus a few things I’ve been absolutely loving.
Finding Happiness in the Small Things
Rather than focusing on the post-holiday slump, I’ve been romanticising the little things—morning light filtering through my window, wrapping up in layers for a crisp winter walk, the ritual of making a hot drink, and the simple comfort of fresh bedding. These tiny moments make all the difference.
Movement has also been key for keeping my energy up. Pilates, strength training, and walks (no running yet, I like it at least 10 degrees before I start pounding the pavements again) all help me shake off the sluggishness that can creep in this time of year. And when I’m feeling low, I remind myself that just a little movement can completely shift my mood.
My January Favourites
Here are the things I’ve been loving lately, adding warmth and comfort to my routine:

Phlur Vanilla Skin Perfume – The perfect soft, warm vanilla scent that feels like a cosy sweater in fragrance form. Find it here.
Red Light Face Therapy – My skin always needs extra love in winter, and this has been a game-changer for keeping it glowing and healthy. Check it out here.
Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation – Because dull winter skin needs a little extra radiance. This foundation gives the most beautiful, natural glow. Shop it here.
Asics Gel 1130 'Piedmont Grey' – Stylish, comfortable, and perfect for everything from workouts to casual outfits. Get them here.
Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros (on Audible) – I love getting lost in a book while out on a walk, and this sequel to Fourth Wing has been keeping me entertained all month. Listen here.
How to Keep Your Spirits High in January
If you find yourself feeling a little ‘meh’ this month, here are some things that help me:
🌟 Create small moments of joy – Light a candle, savour your morning coffee, take a warm bath—romanticise your daily routine.
🌟 Move your body – Even a short walk can do wonders for your mood.
🌟 Make plans to look forward to – A coffee date, a cosy movie night, or even just a self-care evening can help break up the monotony.
🌟 Embrace winter comforts – Think chunky knitwear, nourishing meals, and all things cosy.
🌟 Remember, it’s a season of rest – You don’t have to be in ‘go mode’ all the time. Slowing down is just as important.
January isn’t just about getting through—it’s about embracing the pause before the year picks up again. And when you start noticing the small joys, it becomes a month full of magic.
